December 24 2006:
Also, I had so much fun shooting pin-up photos at the workshop, and with me having January off, I've decided to make myself available to shoot pin-up photos for local gals, so if that's you, email me for rates and availability! I can help with hairstyling, makeup and costuming too. xoxo Bettina May December 9 2006: The pin-up class is now full, but I will be taking a waiting list in case a space become available, and we are starting to plan a second class to have in a couple months. Email me for more details! November 25 2006: I made the cover of local arts paper Monday Magazine last week while I was down in San Francisco and LA! Go to the Press Kit to see a larger version of the cover and to read the interview they did with me! I also had a chance to put up some photos from San Francisco. See them all in the Live Gallery! November 13 2006: Aspiring Pin-Up Models in Victoria take note!! On Monday, December18th Seattle's go-go Amy and I will be hosting a full day workshop where we will teach you everything you need to know to get started as a pin-up model! Whether you want to start pursuing a career in the DIY modeling scene, or just learn how to look fabulous in photos for fun, this class will go over the basics of posing, costuming, 1940s & 50s period hair and makeup, and lots of other tips we've picked up over the years. $100 ($25 deposit required) gets you a booklet with hair, makeup and posing tips, and a cd of your 5 best photos from the shoot that day that you will own the rights to. Space is limited to 10, and we need a minimum of 4 participants to run the class, so please confirm before December 10th. Email me to register now! Also, my new video went up on SuicideGirls.com this weekend, so if you haven't seen it yet, head on over to take a look! You need to be a member to see it, but if you sign up via my link (membership is quite reasonable) I get a bonus, plus you get to see photos and videos by over 1000 talented models! It's shot by my good friend Amina Munster, and we did it this past May in Las Vegas while I was there performing at the Miss Exotic World Pageant!
October 9 2006: I'm visiting family for the Thanksgiving long weekend, and I'm taking advantage of being away from my sewing machine creating Coquette Faux Furriers orders to work on photos that have been piling up since the summer! Some of you may not know that I chopped off my locks this summer, and Brian Clement captured the event for posterity. Karen Mantell, my good friend and stylist for over 8 years opened the shop up on her day off, and we had so much fun!! Karen has been cutting my hair since I shaved off my mohawk and started growing my hair out, and I've been a hair model for her many times. I wouldn't trust my cut or colour to anyone else! Click on the photo below to see the results! I also had a new photoset go up on SuicideGirls.com a couple weeks ago, also shot by Brian Clement, so if you haven't seen it already, go take a look! If you aren't a member yet, sign up through me by clicking the photo below, and make me a little bonus! You can see all 10 of my sets from the past 3 and a half years, plus see work from over 1000 beautiful women! This set was shot in the raddest local independent comic shop Legends Comics, on 633 Johnson Street. Here's my favourite: I did a lot of interviews recently to promote the SuicideGirls.com Live Show that came to town on September 21st, and I've put the clippings from the Times Colonist and the Martlet in the Press Kit, along with a video of my performance from October 6th. I've also got a busy performing schedule this fall, so come see me live! I'll be doing a show with my local troupe, the Capital City Cheesecake Burlesque Review on October 24 at Lucky Bar here in Victoria! Check out my events calendar for details! September 18 2006: It's t-shirt city these days! I've finally got a bunch of GLAM-O-RAMA shirts and tank tops for sale in the shop, but you better grab them while you can, because we won't be reprinting this design, and I only have about one of each size left! September 6 2006: Oh my! What a busy summer I've had!! I just got home from the first leg of my tour with the GLAM-O-RAMA Girly Show. Thanks to everyone who came out to our shows and took pictures with us and bought our t-shirts lovingly made by our very own Tana the Tattooed Lady, we had an amazing time. Thanks to everyone who helped carry our bags and set up our merch and make sure we were taken care of. We had a chance to do a photoshoot with Clark Miller of the whole cast, and I've put some of those pictures up in the Pin-Up Gallery, go take a look!
July 9 2006: How delightful to have a weekend free to catch up on resizing photos! I found all these great photos from a shoot I did LAST summer with Anastasia Andrews in Esquimalt Lagoon with our friend Brian's beautiful custom truck. You'll recognize them from being on the same day as the original Leopard Lagoon set, so I've made it into another sequel. There are actually more from that day at a different part of the beach that I haven't got to, so this may turn into a trilogy of beachy fun! For now, enjoy the Return to the Leopard Lagoon, and tell me what you think! I'll be shooting video of my latest burlesque performances tomorrow evening, and should have those available in the next month or so if you want to see more than the clip I have in the Gallery. July 3 2006: Another busy weekend, with lots of performing and photos! I shot a new photoset of SG Jorryn, so stay tuned to SuicideGirls.com to see that go up. My new troupe, the Capital City Cheesecake Burlesque Revue debuted at Saturday's Pride celebration at the Victoria Events Centre. It was a little sneak peek at what we have in store for y'all at our big debut show on July 25th at Lucky Bar, details in the Events Calendar! We were also lucky enough to get us and our convertible into the Pride Parade yesterday, fulfilling my childhood dream, and having so much fun! Thanks to Trevor Jansen for letting me know that the male model featured in the Gentlemen's Club set is Bryce Burger, and we were shooting at the Campoverde Social Club. June 17 2006: Busy busy Bettina! I've added a new photoset to the Pin-Up Gallery, one shot by Trevor Jansen in Vancouver a couple weeks ago with the GoGo Amy whom I also had the pleasure of performing with that weekend (and again next weekend, check out the calendar for details), and Little Miss Risk made an appearance as well. My apologies to the fabulous male model whose name I can't recall (somebody help me out here?), the shoot was a blast! Also, head on over to Atomic Pin-Up to see my new feature page there, and tell them Bettina sent you! there are 2 pages of Glamour Gals there for your viewing enjoyment, as if we all need another reason to sit in front of the computer on sunny days, but there you have it! June 7 2006: I've added a bunch of local shows, go see the Events Calendar for details! June 4 2006: What a time I had in LA and Las Vegas! I met so many wonderful people, and got to spend time with old friends too, and I have the pictures to prove it so head on over to the Live Show Gallery to see what I got up to. I had time to do a few photoshoots while I was there with the talented Amina Munster, and also shot a video for SuicideGirls, so I'll let you know when those are up, keep checking back for details. May 20 2006: Just a few days before I hop on a jet plane for sunny Los Angeles! I'll be spending some time there with my fellow SuicideGirl sisters, and doing two shows while I'm there, one before I go to Vegas at The Palms on Thursday, May 25th and one after on May 29th, The Tease at Three's at the 3 of Clubs. In between those shows I'll be roadtripping over to Las Vegas for Miss Exotic World, where I'll be performing on Sunday, May 28th. Get your tickets now before they sell out! Margaret Cho is MCing the event, and there is an amazing lineup of talented performers this year, including my friends Charlotte La Belle Araigne'e, Miss Indigo Blue, Lolita Haze, Lucy Fur, and Vienna Le Rouge! See the Events Calendar for full details on all these shows and more! Remember, all my shows while I'm in LA and Vegas are volunteer affairs! Click here to buy your tickets now!
April 17 2006: The article from the New York Post that I was quoted in is now up in the Press Kit, go take a peek! If you head over to the Events Calendar you'll see all the new shows I have coming up in the next couple months. I'll be doing a couple shows in Vancouver, and then at the end of May I'm heading down to Las Vegas via Los Angeles to attend Miss Exotic World, so be sure to come out and say hi if you are in the area, and email me if you'd like to book me for a photoshoot or performance while I'm in town! April 1 2006: I've put up the images from Deacon Von Haze in the Fan Art section, and he now has this 11x17 up for sale with partial proceeds going to the SHAC 7 Defence Fund.
Also, Deacon Von Haze of Rockabilly Art created a poster from a photo in the Flapper set by Lily Fawn, and it's currently being displayed in a showing of his work at the CBGB Gallery in NYC. He will be selling it on his website after the show, with proceeds going to a charity of my choice, so I'll let you know when that happens. I've created a gallery for works artists have created for me to showcase their fine talents, so go take a peek: Fan Art! March 25 2006: I put up photos from the Red Head Revue show last week in the On The Stage section of the Pin-Up Gallery, here's a sneaky peak: March 14 2006: So many updates this month! I've got new 8x10s available in the Shop, so head over that way to see the goods. I shot the "Bettina Gets Her Mountie" photo at Grandpa's Antique Photo Studio here in Victoria, they have so many cute sets, you should definitely check them out. I've also added a new page, all about me, and it includes a Press Kit for all you newsies out there, chock full of articles, tv clips, my bio, peep shows and big photos. Enjoy! I hope to see you Vancouver kats and kittens out at the Lamplighter on Friday for the St. Patrick's Day show, all red-head revue, what's not to love? And all you horror fans in Victoria had best come out to the Frontline Films Fundraiser next Tuesday, it will be a night full of titilating surprises. March 12 2006: I did a photoshoot this week with my darling friend Lily Fawn and shot by the incredibly talented Wicked Swank. We shot it in Lily Fawn's darling old house, which is sadly being destroyed to make way for a boring modern condo. These photos are a loveletter to her house, the first place I ever did pin-up photos, and so I thought it would be fitting to wear the same outfit that I wore in those first photos. Thank you ladies, I had a marvelous time! Pop over to the Pin-Up Gallery to take a look. March 8 2006: My frustration about the SHAC 7 case overshadowed my recent win for Victoria's "Favourite Dancer" last week on my birthday! Thanks to everyone who voted, you made my night! I'm busy these days planning upcoming shows in Vancouver on St. Patrick's Day and the Frontline Films fundraiser Zomburlesque at Lucky Bar the following week. That night is sure to be full of excitement and surprises, and you'll be helping to support local independant horror, so I hope to see you all there. I am definitely going to be in LA for Glamourcon in November, with the lovely Geraldine Suicide, and I'm trying to arrange a performance or two while I'm there, so email me if you know of good places I should look into.
March 3 2006: Some
of you may have been following the SHAC
7 case, they are animal rights activists indicted under the controversial
Federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. The Act punishes anyone who
"physically disrupts" an animal enterprise. The charges stem
from these activists' alleged participation in an international campaign
to close the notorious product testing lab Huntingdon Life Sciences.
I just found out that the jury in the SHAC 7 case returned a guilty
verdict on all counts as to all defendants. Some of the defendants face
a maximum of 23 years! February 25 2006:
And, if you haven't already, go check out some of my other work on SuicideGirls.com, where I've been a model for almost 3 years, March is my anniversary! February 19 2006: I had a great couple of shows this month, I hope you all had a swell Valentine's Day! I have a bunch of shows coming up in March, so check back for venues and date info! Also, my birthday is next week, February 28th, so mark your calendars!
